Four Delaware Certified Stakes highlights Saturday card
Four Delaware Bred or Certified Stakes, worth $75,000 each, highlights the racing action at Delaware Park this Saturday. The races are the five and a half furlong Small Wonder for 2-year-old fillies, the five and half furlong First State Dash for 2-year-olds, the six furlong Tax Free Shopping Stakes for fillies and mares and the six furlong New Castle for 3-year-olds and upward.
To become Delaware Certified eligible, a thoroughbred horse must spend a minimum of 90 days on a Delaware farm or training facility prior to March 31st of its 2-year-old year. The certifier and owner of the thoroughbred will receive an additional 25% of the purse share if the Delaware Certified Thoroughbred finishes first, second or third in any race, including stake races, during the Delaware Park meet. The Delaware Certified Thoroughbred Program was established in 2002. More than 2,000 thoroughbreds are Delaware Certified and are eligible to participate in the 2010 Delaware Park meet for owner purse enhancements and certifier bonuses.
