Love That Dance tops Sweet & Sassy
John Petrini’s Love That Dance tops a field of six fillies and mares entered in the six furlong $125,000 Sweet & Sassy Stakes at Delaware Park this Saturday.
In her most recent outing, the New Jersey-bred conditioned by Benjamin Perkins, Jr. finished second beaten a half length in the seven furlong $100,000 Maryland Million Distaff Handicap at Laurel Park on October 2. Previously, the 4-year-old daughter of Not for Love notched an 8 ½-length triumph versus state-bred rivals in the six furlong $95,000 Eleven North Handicap at Monmouth Park on September 18. Her only other victory this came on August 22 when she recorded a 1 ½-length victory in the six furlong $100,000 Trenton at Monmouth. She sports a career record of seven wins, six seconds and a third from 22 starts with earnings of $434,794.
Joseph Novogratz’s Mindy Sue is the top local filly in the Sweet & Sassy. The Kentucky-bred trained by McLean Robertson has a lifetime record of five wins, three seconds and three thirds from 12 outings with earnings of $179,128. Her last four starts have been at Delaware Park where she has a record of two wins and a third. In her last outing, the 4-year-old daughter of Pleasantly Perfect finished third beaten a 1 ½-lengths in the six furlong $150,000 Grade III Endine Stakes on September 11. Previously, she posted a 1 ¼-length score in the six furlong $50,000 Dashing Beauty Stakes on August 4. Her other Delaware Park win was in the mile and a sixteenth $50,000 Winter Melody Stakes on May 8.
