King Star Farm’s Marvel Wood continued his winning ways on opening day at Delaware Park today.

The 7-year-old son of Ormsby notched a 2 ¾-length victory in a $19,500 starter allowance to run his Delaware Park record to nine wins from sixteen starts.  With Jeremy Rose, aboard the Florida-bred covered the six furlongs in 1:08.80 and returned $4.40 as the favorite in the field of eight.

This year, Marvel Wood was winless in a pair of starts of Gulfstream Park.  Last year, at Delaware Park he won six of seven starts winning on both turf and dirt at distances ranging from six furlongs to a mile and seventy yards.

He is conditioned by the leading trainer at Delaware Park last year, Juan Vazquez.  Vazquez had two other victories on the opening day card.  He won the first race with Private Sale and then followed by winning the fourth with Mr. Sammy G.

Marvel Wood has a career record of 14 wins from 35 starts with lifetime earnings of $298,796.
