Lael Stable's Nicanor, also a full brother to 2006 Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro, will be seeking his first career stake victory when he faces eleven rivals in the $50,000 Eight Thirty Overnight Stakes at Delaware Park tomorrow. The eighth race feature, with an approximate post time of 4:24 p.m., is a mile and seventy yard turf event for 3-year-olds and upward.

Nicanor has been away since running third in the mile and a sixteenth $97,000 Sussex Stakes, which was originally scheduled to be run on the grass but was transferred to the main track due to rain, at Delaware Park on July 10. Previously, the 4-year-old son of Dynaformer notched a 2 ½-length triumph in a mile and a sixteenth turf allowance at Delaware Park on June 16. In his two other outings this year, the Kentucky-bred trained by Michael Matz ran fifth in a turf allowance at Keeneland on April 8 and he followed by running sixth in the Grade II Dixie on the Pimlico grass on May 15.

Last year, Nicanor recorded two victories from five starts. Both of those wins were at Delaware Park and on the grass. On May 13, he broke his maiden by 15 ¼-lengths going a mile and a sixteenth and then he followed with 1 ¾-length triumph versus allowance company going a mile and an eighth on June 17. He his three-for-three with a combined margin of victory of 19 ½-lengths over the Delaware Park turf course. His career record is three wins, two seconds and a third from nine starts with earnings of $96,440.
