The longest shot in the five horse field, Law Legacy Stables’ Uncle Otto posted an upset victory in the Delaware Bred or Certified $75,000 First State Dash at Delaware Park today. With Rosemary Homeister, Jr., aboard, the 2-year-old son of Roaring Fever won by a length and returned $30.20 for a $2 win wager.

The 4-to-5 favorite Steady Warrior, with Jose Caraballo, set early fractions of :21.73 for the quarter mile and :45.42 for the half before finishing second a half length in front of Poseidon’s Warrior, with Frankie Pennington, in third. The final time for the five and a half furlongs over a fast main track was 1:04.78.

Previously, Uncle Otto broke his maiden versus state-breds going five and a half furlongs at Monmouth Park on September 18. The New Jersey-bred conditioned by Skip Einhorn raised his career mark to two wins from five starts with earnings of $101,250.
