Stanton, Del. – The Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (DTHA), sponsor of the very successful Delaware Certified Thoroughbred Program, will continue to award generous bonus-enhanced purse payments during the entire 2012 racing meet.
The advisory board for the Delaware Certified Thoroughbred Program, chaired by Secretary of Agriculture, Ed Kee, met and approved bonus payments for the 2012 race meet to owners and certifiers will be 15 percent to the owner and 15 percent to the certifier. Stake bonuses paid to owners and certifiers will be capped at $7,500 each.
“This year our Delaware Certified Program celebrates its 10th successful year of enhanced bonus payments to owners and certifiers of more than 2,500 thoroughbreds who qualified by spending 90 consecutive days on a Delaware farm or training facility,” said Bessie Gruwell, Executive Director of the Horsemen’s Association.
“The program has paid thoroughbred owners and certifiers more than $6 million in bonuses to date and contributed more than $25 million to Delaware’s farming economy”, Gruwell said.
