• Was top high school wrestler who made it to the Pennsylvania state finals.
• First visit to a racetrack came after high school graduation in 1998 with family friend Bob Szeyller, a breeder/owner at Penn National Race Course who had been suggesting for years Rose's size would make him the perfect rider.
• Another family friend, hunter-jumper Ben Guanciolle, got Rose a job on a Puerto Rican farm breaking babies in September 1998. Nine months later he returned home to work as a hotwalker-groom-excercise boy for trainer Michael Petro. Petro and his brother Nick, a jockey, taught him to race-ride.

• As the regular rider for Tackleberry, he won the Grade II Gulfstream Park Sprint Championship on February 12, 2011 and the Grade II Gulfstream Park Handicap on March 12, 2011.  He also won the Grade III Fred Hooper Handicap at Calder on December 11, 2010 aboard the Florida-bred conditioned by Luis Olivares.
• Won the Puerto Triple Crown, consisting of the Puerto Rico Derby, the Gobernador, and the San Juan, at El Commandante in back-to-back years.  In 2001, he won with Estrellero and in 2002 he won the aboard the Mediavilla R., who became the first filly to achieve the feat.
